Sofoklo - Antigona
Čitavog svog života Sofoklo je i u ratu i u miru bio istaknuta ličnost javnog života, bio je vojskovođa i diplomat, cjenjeni pjesnik, ljubimac cijele Atene. Poslije smrti proslavljen je kao heroj. Sačuvano je samo sedam njegovih tragedija. Većinu tih tragedija i danas izvode pozorišta širom svijeta.

I čin
Antigona moli svoju sestru Izmenu da zajdno pokopaju svoga brata Polinika koji bijaše zbog napada na grad i svog brata osuđen da se ne smije pokopati ni oplakivati. No Antigona prepuna sržbe i ljuta zbog Izmene koja odbija njen prijedlog jer se boji vlasti, po svaku cijenu želi ostvariti svoj cilj.
II čin
Kreont sada kao novi kralj zaklinje se svome narodu da će mu biti vjeran te da ga neće nikada iznevjeriti, ali u to stiže stražar koji jako uznemiren priopćava vijest da je Antigonin brat odnosno Poliniko ipak zakopan. Ljutit Kreont okrivljuje stražara da je primio mito i zapovjeda da nađe pravog krivca ili će inače umrijeti strašnom smrću.
III čin
Dolazi stražar vodeći Antigonu kao krivca. Ispričavši Kreontu kako je otkrio Antigonu stražar odlazi, a Kreon vidno uzbuđen zapita Antigonu zašto je to učinila iako je znala za zapovjed te posla jednog od svojih ljudi da dovedu Izmenu te da i nju osude na smrt. Antigona započinje priču o slavi i ponosu koje je osjetila pokapajući svog brata. U to dolazi Izmena koja želi zajedno s Antigonom biti osuđena na smrt, ali je Antigona odgovara od tog nauma. Zbog toga moli Kreonta da oslobodi Antigonu kao zaručnicu svog sina. No on to odbija.
IV čin
Kreontu dolazi njegov sin Hemon priopćavajući ocu da se bjegov narod ne slaže s njegovom odlukom te ga moli daa oslobodi Antigonu. Kreon uvrijeđen okrivljuje svog sina da je rob jedne žene te obećava da će Antigonu ubiti pred njegovim očima, no Hemon iznenađen očevim ponašanjem odlazi pun sržbe u nadi da će nekako osloboditi Antigonu. Kreont izgovara Antigoninu osudu. Naime ona će biti živa zazidana u kulu svog doma.
V čin
Antigona odlazi u smrt poput božice, osuđujući ljudsku nepravdu, ali i ponosna zbog svog čina govori o svijim roditeljima i braći kojima će se uskoro pridružiti.
VI čin
Do Kreonta dolazi Tiresija, vrač koji priopćava da bogovi nisu primili njegovu žrtvu zbbog Kreontova naloga da se Antigonin brat ne smije pokopati i da će zbbog toga nna njegovu obitelj doći strašna nesreća. Kreont govori starcu da laže i neće poništiti nalog i zbog toga ovaj na njega šalje kletvu. Sav uplašen Kreont ipak popušta te u dogovoru sa svojim zborovođom obećava da će osloboditi Antigonu i pokopati njenog brata, ali u najvećoj tajnosti.
VII čin
Glasnik izgovara tušnu vijest o smrti Hemanovoj. U to dolazi Euridika te čuvši vijest odlazi ne izgovaravši niti jednu riječ. Tada glasnik ispriča kako se Hemon ubio. Naime, kada je Kreon zakopao Polinika, pošao je osloboditi Antigonu. Došavši do kule ugleda Antigonu koja se ubila, tj. objesila, a kraj nje je stajao Hemon. Želeći Hemena odgovoriti on nemilog čina Kreont biva napadnut od svog sina. Ne ubivši svog oca Hemon ubija sebe te zajedno s Antigonom odlazi u smrt. Zajedno s umrlim sinom Kreont dolazi na dvor gdje mu priopćavaju da se Euridika ubila. Kreont odlari i sam želeći svoju smrt proklinje svoj život i svoju sudbinu.

Najosnovnije crte fabule: Edip, kralj Tebe, je imao dvije kćeri i dva sina; Antigonu i Ismenu i Eteokla i Polinika. Kada je saznao da je ubio oca i oženio svoju majku, Edip se oslijepio i napustio Tebu. Antigona je krenula s njim. Nedugo nakon toga Eteoklo i Polinik su se posvađali oko vlasti. Eteoklo se udružio s Kreontom-svojim stricem i prognao Polinika iz Tebe. Oboje su nastojali uz sebe pridobiti Edipa, ali on je bacio prokletstvo na obojicu. Polinik se udružio s Argejcima i napao Tebu. Tebanci su pobjedili, ali su Eteoklo i Polinik poginuli. Kreont je počasno pokopao Eteokla, a Polinika je ostavio nepokopanog ispred zidina Tebe, zato što je izdao svoj grad. Edip je ubrzo umro i Antigona je došla u Tebu i odlučila sahraniti brata, iako je to Kreont zabranio. Hamon upozorava Kreonta da se puk ne slaže s njim, ali Kreont se ne obazire na to. Kaže Hamonu da mu Antigona neće biti žena, a ovaj mu odvraća da neće ni umrijeti sama. Kreont odlučuje da Antigona neće umrijeti, ali neće ni živjeti u svijetu živih, te ju zazida u kraljevsku grobnicu. Nakon što odvedu Antigonu prorok Tirezij dolazi Kreontu i kaže mu da mora pokopati Polinika i pustiti Antigonu jer će inače prekršiti Božje zakone, te će to izazvati još smrti u njegovoj obitelji. Kreont se ipak odluči pokopati Polinika i osloboditi Antigonu. Priredi svečan pogreb Poliniku, ali kada dođe osloboditi Antigonu nađe ju obješenu, a Hemona kako ju oplakuje. Kada ga Hemon vidi pokuša ga ubiti, ali ne uspije, te počini samoubojstvo. Njegova majka Euridika počini samoubojstvo od žalosti za njim, a Kreont ostavljen sam počne se kajati i moliti Bogove da mu podare smrt.

Neizmjerno voli Antigonu i to dokazuje time što umire kraj nje u grobnici svoje obitelji. Kreont je tiranin. Ne sluša mišljenje drugih ljudi, već čini samo ono što on misli da je ispravno. Usprkos tome mora se priznati da on drži svoju riječ i čini ono što je rekao, a to bi se u drugim prilikama i uvjetima maoglo nazvati i vrlinom. U duši je ipak samo čovjek, i to dokazuje na kraju drame pjevajući tužaljku u kojoj sebe okrivljuje za smrt svoje žene i svoga sina.
Sukobi: U Antigoni u sukob dolaze Kreont i Antigona zbog zahtjeva države i zahtjeva porodice, a kako ni Kreont ni Antigona ne odstupaju tragedija je neminovna. Kako se Kreont ogriješio i o Božje zakone postoji i sukob između Bogova i Kreonta, a budući da su Bogovi svemoćni, tu gubitnik mora biti Kreont.

Drugi čin: opisuje Kreontov govor ljudima u kojem spominje Polinika kao izdajicu i gubitnika i iznosi zakon o zabrani pokapanja Polinikova trupla. Tu se dogodi obrat -> dolazi straža i govori Kreontu da je netko obavio obred na Polinikovu tijelu.
Kreont govori o zabrani pokapanja Polinika:
"Za njega gradu evo ja proglasih sad,
da grob mu nitko ne spremi nit ožali,
bez groba nek mu tijelo pusti pticama
i psima da ga žderu – grdno pogledat!"
Stražar govori Kreontu da je Polinika netko pokopao:
"Pa kažem.
Baš mrtvaca netko sahrani
I ode suhim prahom tijelo posuo mu
I sveti obred kako treba obavi."
Treći čin: stražari su uhvatili Antigonu na djelu i dovode je pred Kreonta. Antigona priznaje krivnju. Kreont zove Izmenu koja želi umrijeti sa sestrom. Kreont ih obje zatvara.
Antigonino priznanje: "Pa priznajem – uradih, i ne poričem."
Četvrti čin: Hemon govori ocu kako je u krivu što se tiče Antigonine kazne. Kreont govori kako
neće promijeniti mišljenje. Hemon prijeti ocu svojom smrću i govori kako cijeli
grad žali Antigonu. Kreont odlučuje poštedjeti Izmenu.
Hemon govori ocu kako cijeli grad žali Antigonu:
"...a ja iz prikrajka ti slušat mnogu to,
tu djevu kako žali grad, što s najgorom
sad smrću gine zbog čina predivnog,
a od svih žena najmanje to zavrijedi..."

sudbinu.
Kreont naređuje slugama da odvedu Antigonu:

Te ista ta će tebe stići nevolja,
I pazi da li i to srebrom potkupljen
Sad govorim. Ta neće tamo dugo bit,
A ljudi, žena jaukom će jeknut dvor."
Sedmi čin: Glasnik govori Euridiki, Kreontovoj ženi, da joj je sin mrtav, isto kao i Antigona.
Euridika izvršava samoubojstvo. Kreont prekasno shvaća da je pogriješio i ostaje sam u
boli okajavati svoje greške
Smrt Antigone i Hemonovo samoubojstvo:
"Nju na dnu groba opazismo, za vrat se
